Confirmation

ConfirmationConfirmation, together with Baptism and Eucharist, form the Sacraments of Initiation that are all intimately connected.  In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ.

Here at St. John's, students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation during Levels 6 and 7and receive Confirmation after the completion of Level 8 in the Spring. Of course, arrangements can be made for older students or adults who did not make Confirmation at this designated time.

To register for Confirmation - Level 8, please fill out a general Registration form (Also found on the Registration page.)

One of the requirements for receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation is the completion of 12 hours of service.  This reflects the Candidate's response to the call of being Christ to others.  In serving others, one becomes more sensitive and aware of the needs of others.  Service is defined as an act done for others without the expectation of any compensation.  (Assistance given to family members does not count for service hours.)   Candidates are asked to complete and submit a Service Hours Form for each agency served.  This form can be downloaded here: SERVICE HOURS FORM

Another requirement is attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation.  In order to keep track of attendance, students are asked to HAND Fr. Jerry a coupon each Mass as they leave church.  Copies of the "coupons" are available here:  MASS COUPONS  Extra coupons will be available in the entrance to the Sacristy, just in case a student forgets his/her copy at home.

In addition, each student is required to have a Sponsor,  This person is someone who is a practicing Catholic (attending weekly Mass and lives in line with the teachings of the Catholic Church.)  He/She must able to complete this CERTIFICATE OF ELIGIBILITY (Sponsor Form) and have it signed by the pastor of the parish at which he/she is registered.
