ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST, SLATERSVILLE RI

Holy Week is fast approaching and before we know it, it will be Easter.  I wonder how ready I am to celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord?  I suppose the first question must be, "How much have I aligned myself with the suffering of Christ during this Lenten season?"  Too often, I think, we "give up" something small, something that will not inconvenience us too much; all for the sake of fulfilling some Lenten obligation.  But if we would really stop and spend time before the crucifix, gazing upon the face of Christ who willing gave up all for our sakes, then I think we would come to appreciate the Lenten journey; then I think we would truly rejoice at the awesome gift of the Resurrection.
